"The mission of the National Weather Service (NWS) is to provide weather, hydrologic and climate forecasts and warnings for the United States, its territories, adjacent waters and ocean areas, for the protection of life and property and the enhancement of the national economy. NWS data and products form a national information database and infrastructure which can be used by other governmental agencies, the private sector, the public, and the global community."
As a National Weather Ambassador, improving how weather decisions are delivered is a service. The support of the enhanced climate is to improve the sector-relevant information for economic productivity (especially in Bienville Parish, Louisiana). By integrating environmental forecasting for healthy communities and ecosystems, sustaining training, thought, tools and infrastructure is part of being an Ambassador.
FALL-LIKE TEMPERATURES (Visual)
As the fall-like temperatures approach the eastern U.S., the weather over this weekend has developed a strong cold front. High temperatures today (Sunday) will be 5 to 15 degrees below average across much of the eastern half of the country.
DROUGHT IN THE NEWS
Don't forget! Emergency Managers, Climatologist, and Water Managers! Drought season is here as I posted earlier and the States of Texas to Alaska have been explored to respond to plans to broadcast drought warnings. Again, when hurricanes occur, there is a warming of the ocean surface along with the average sea surface temperature. The phenomenon here is to examine the potential implications of whether the weather will continue to be a nuisance over the following years or not! So, that said! What is the role of policy and planning when the risk of future flooding drought, hurricane, and rising waters occur? How about the roads? Well, these are just a few thoughts before impacting your water supply when there are extreme events!
TODAY'S WEATHER FORECAST
Be Prepared Today! Scattered showers, mainly between 10am and 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 79. West wind 5 to 14 mph. 30% chance of precipitation.
Tonight! Mostly clear, with a low around 58. West wind around 15 mph.
