After a flood as in South Carolina the other day, devastation is present in pictures from the flood destruction damage. Decimated roadways, high level flood waters contaminated with sewage, gas leaks and live powerless hanging, unfinished funeral services with caskets floating in the water, and complete destruction depicts homes and buildings at a first glance. So, what now, after the storm?
Remember, standing waters contain chemicals and toxins that are dangerous to life. Debris under the water and collapsed road surfaces may have been comprised ~ first responders and volunteers are of the upmost importance during this time. Evacuation is the obvious choice, so evacuate yourself and make alternative plans for a safe place to stay! If you have pets! Take them with you!
