An excessive heat advisory is in effect for Monday ranging in the head index values up to 107 degrees for Monday. Urgent precautions and preparedness actions are NECESSARY! The heat impacts with the combination of heat and humidity will increase the risk for HEAT RELATED ISSUES! The Elderly especially should take precautions due to chronic health problems such as LUNG and HEART DISEASE while working outdoors. For those individuals with MENTAL HEALTH Conditions, you are at RISK and must remain indoors with Air Conditioning to prevent heat stroke!!!!
Air Quality Preparedness
The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), $150 Billion Dollars a year is spent on air pollution-related illnesses. Another 60,000 deaths are related to poor air quality due to premature deaths in the United States. Public exposure to unhealthy levels of air pollutants and sensitive ecosystems is damaging to due to air pollutants in particular asthma-related attacks, eye, nose, and throat irritation, heart attacks and other respiratory and cardiovascular problems.
So How Do You Prepare For Poor Air?
Follow these simple tips to stay safe when there is an air quality alert
REMEMBER
Today
Sunny, with a high near 93. North wind 6 to 9 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
Tonight

So How Do You Prepare For Poor Air?
Follow these simple tips to stay safe when there is an air quality alert
- Stay Informed. Listen to NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite weather news station
- Stay inside if possible, particularly if you have respiratory concerns or other health problems, are a senior or child
- If you must go out, try to limit the amount of time you are out to strictly essential activities
- Minimize your use of items that increase pollution, such as cars, gas powered lawn mowers and other vehicles
- Do not burn debris or other items during an air quality alert
REMEMBER
- Ground-Level Ozone
Ground-level ozone is formed when pollutants emitted by vehicles, power plants and industrial plants react in the presence of sunlight, usually during the summer. Ozone aggravates asthma and other respiratory diseases, and can make it difficult for you to breathe
as deeply as you normally would. Ground-level ozone can also permanently change the structure of your lungs.
Particle Pollution
Unlike summertime ozone, particle pollution can occur year round. Particle pollution comes from a wide range of sources, including power plants, cars and trucks, wood stoves and forest fires. Airborne, microscopic particles can get deep into your lungs and aggravate heart and lung disease. Symptoms can include coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and unusual fatigue. In people with heart disease, particle pollution has been linked to heart attacks and arrhythmias.
