An Alberta Clipper is described by weather meteorologists as a type of winter storm that originates from the Canadian province of Alberta. "Clipper" or the clipper sailing of ships is the quick speed in which the winter store system moves out of Alberta, Canada. Alberta Clippers are normally a low-pressure system in the Canadian Rockies (in Alberta), that gets caught up in jet stream and travel off the mid-Atlantic coast into the Atlantic Ocean. Clippers deliver colder temperatures with a quick burst of snow (generally 1-3 inches). As a result of this news, clippers lack moisture and the forecast states that as high pressure builds into the weekend expect dry conditions and a low change of snow showers late into Friday.
